Austin Sirkin is a prominent figure in the Steampunk community, and has been featured in a number of books and articles in recognition of his accomplishments. Sirkin has made significant contributions to the movement in several areas, most notably through his costumes, writing, and community management. As a costumer, he created Steampunk props as a member of one of the earliest Steampunk costume groups, Outland Armour, and he appeared in the music video “The Ballad of Mona Lisa” with Panic! at the Disco. He then went on to push the boundaries of Steampunk with his original concept, Nerfpunk, which became a successful meme on the internet. His writing, too, saw its share of internet fame as his dozens of articles on the subject of Steampunk have been viewed, collectively, millions of times, some of which have even been translated into other languages. Pieces of Sirkin’s writing also appear in the books “Terror by Gaslight: A Steampunk Anthology” and “Steampunk III: Steampunk Revolution”. He also helped found and continues to manage one of the largest and most active Steampunk groups on the internet, “Steampunk Revolution” on Facebook.
